I Donated to Wikipedia
by RayPublisher ineven though wikipedia isn't perfect, and you still have to vet and research anything you read online, it has proved invaluable to me and many others out there over the last few years since we learned ttatt.
articles on jehovah's witnesses and the watchtower corporations, as well as cognitive dissonance, et al.
have made it a great place to help those that want to free their minds, which includes me lol!.

What a coincidence... I donated last night too.
I use it constantly and had never donated before so I had to pay up for several years.

Did you feel guilty for not pioneering?
by brokethechain ini started pioneering the month i finished high school, and never stopped until i awakened, 17 years later.
it seems like the entire time, there was so much emphasis on pioneering.
every field service meeting seemed to have a part that communicated the message that jehovah would zap us at the big a. or people would die because of us if we didn't have extenuating circumstances (i always translated as bad health or kids, but even then, there were always "examples" of the mom with 5 kids that was pioneering).

Great now I feel like an idiot even more for doing it for 8 years straight out of high school. (How did you guys sit though all those assemblies and service meetings without the 'you're probably not doing enough if you're not pioneering' message seeping into you're brain?) I think the chart below might be right - maybe I was just a naturally annoying person, thus my decision to pioneer and actually put in all the hours every year. My only saving grace is that I never converted anyone for all my door knocking and street pestering.

Is "full-time service" a cult within a cult?
by brokethechain inaccording to the bite model, mind control groups keep their members busy, tell them they are special, have special lingo, etc.. doesn't that make "full-time ministers" into a deeper level of mind control?
it's a "special privilege" to be among those "ranks", there are extra meetings "anual pioneer meeting", "pioneer school", and a whole other level of guilt/indocrination/control for keeping pioneers/bethelites busy.
as "examples", they shouldn't socialize too much, they shouldn't miss field service groups, they should start their time early, they should study all the publications, etc.

LOL. I remember feeling special when I got my first 'pioneer letter'. I can't believe I collected 8 of those damn things. Now I hear they will no longer be sending them out. Yep it's definitely a cult within a cult. The inner circle of 'special full time-servants' and their family members are the most cultish of all.

Hi Everyone
by Skbj inhello people,
i'd like to start by saying wow!
i've only just discovered this "world" of ex jw's so i'm still catching up on lots of stuff, my story is a bit long so don't know if people have patience to read :p but if you can bear the reading then i'm happy to share.

I will definitely buy your book/memoir if you ever do write it. Your story was 110% inspiration. I wish I had been a 'wolf' too and had gotten on with real life at a younger age.

A milestone for my Grandson, David
by coffee_black indavid turned 18 yesterday.
(he is the one who walked from orlando, fl to washington, dc a little over 3 years ago on behalf of homeless children) i wrote about that on the forum back then.
what i didn't write about is that david has grown up without a father....not because he doesn't exist, but because his father has chosen to live his life of drugs and violence.

Go David! Makes me proud... and I haven't even met him.

atrapado's story parte dos
by atrapado inwe met after the meeting which i found strange i figured if i was to be named it would be before the meeting.
they read me the letter from the wt.
it basically said that they were happy about my recommendation but they couldnt accept the recommendation of a 16 year old that i should wait until i was at least 17. of course i was not 16. the problem is that in spanish you write the day first the month after.

Thanks so much for this Atrapado. Happy you were able to pursue your education while young. And glad to that you were able to help some family members to reason their way out of the mind-numbing maze.
Gotta say JWFacts rocks! I'm sure if I came across it while still a dub it would have woken me up as well.

Info on publisher cards???
by OneDayillBeFree inso i moved to another hall to better help me fade.
so far it's been great although it is a very long and annoying process!
so i'm very good friends with the coordinating elder in the new hall since we've known each other for years and so instead of mailing them to the other hall he decided to pass them on to my dad so he could give them to me and for me to give them to the other hall.
